Travel Companion & Book Buddy

Some of my happiest memories of childhood were hearing stories of people’s travels and curling up under blankets with a good book. I have been fortunate to live a really fun and fulfilling life. I have graduated from college and graduate school, worked on Capitol Hill, taught middle school, raised way too much money for politicians and not enough for non-profits, moved to Boston, remained an Indianapolis Colts and Pacers fan, fell in love, welcomed Jack into our family, discovered the wonder of bourbon, attended many U2 concerts and confirmed to everyone that I am not exaggerating when I say - I am not a good cook.

How thrilling it has been to live the childhood dreams I formed while listening to travel stories and letting my imagination run wild while reading. As the years go by and regardless of my stage in life, my first loves of traveling and reading have remained an inspiration to keep living a life to its fullest.

These dreams have shown me that life is at its best when it is shared with others. I love the unique bond that is formed when I discover a kindred spirit who shares a favorite author, city, national park, random tourist attraction, literary character or experience. What often first seems to be a complex, confusing and intimidating world, can soon become a treasured community that is most beautiful when shared with a fellow traveler and/or reader.

I hope this website can be a place where I can pay tribute to the many friends who have expanded my world through the years and where we can pique each other’s curiosities so we can continue to Read Far & Wide together!
